TL;DR – Curry’s Holiday Gift Guide was recently released and there is some goooooood stuff so I bought everything, even items that were not on sale because I forgot the reason why I was there in the first place. Shipping was free and fast, prices were good.
When I received Curry’s Holiday Gift Guide, I told myself I would take a peek. $80 later, I was still “only looking”. I actually had a hard time meeting the minimum for free shipping ($75) so I purchased a few things that I had not planned on buying (who am I kidding, I wasn’t “planning” on buying anything.)
The last time I purchased from Curry’s, I bought a whole bunch of calligraphy supplies: nibs, pen holders and inks – things that were difficult for me to find at other art supply chains in Canada. Several items were back ordered but I had no issues with the delivery once the item was back in stock. They also did not charge me until the item was shipped. Based on that experience alone, I had no hesitation ordering from them again.

Having listed it all out, I realize that less than half the items were on sale and two of those are being given to someone. I also purchased two brush pens that I already own, so there’s that.
That being said, here’s a hidden paragraph for those who are actually reading: make sure to check out my Instagram page later today for details on a little giveaway! If you’re broke from holiday shopping (or from regular shopping. Or just from life), here’s a chance to get something for free. And since you’re reading my blog, here’s a secret: if you follow the rules AND comment with your favourite menu item at McDonald’s, you get an extra chance to win!
I’ll review the products later on – this is getting too long.
What I Also Wanted to Buy
Here are some other items that were interesting but that I did not buy because I already had them or did not need them at the moment:
Winsor & Newton Cotman Watercolour Brush Pen Set – $27.99
I love watercolours and this one comes in a great case with a travel water brush for when you tell yourself you’re going to paint when you travel but you just end up eating chips in bed all day.
Daylight Wafer Light Box – $148.99 or $258.99
Light boxes are great for practicing calligraphy, but also really nice to look at.
Premium ‘Classic’ Hardcover Sketchbooks – $6.99
I try not to pay full price for sketchbooks – I treat them so badly that it’s not worth it for me.
Sakura Koi Water Brush – $6.89
You can fill these with water to use with watercolours or with ink to make your own brush pen. I actually already own one but I could use more.
Canson XL Watercolour Pads – $6.79
To use with your new watercolours and water brushes
Sakura Pigma Micron Pens – Various prices
Classic drawing and illustration pens, these are a must have!
